4th meeting of National MAB Committee was convened by the Chairman Secretary of Ministry of Climate Change I.R of Pakistan. Purpose of the meeting was to review the progress made by the National MAB Committee, preparation and submission of dossier for new biosphere reserves (BRs) candidate and the Lima Action Plan (LAP) for BRs.

President ECO Science Foundation Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro in his capacity as member of National MAB committee also attended the meeting and shared his experiences and ideas. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s National MAB Committee was not in place for over three decades before Prof. Soomro as Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) had revived and got re-notified the National MAB Committee in 2012, under the patronage of the then Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) Mr. Ikhlaq Ahmed Tarar. Whereby Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) was declared as the MAB Secretariat for Pakistan. However in 2016 the MAB activity was transferred by the Government of Pakistan from MoST to Ministry of Climate Change.
