Series of Online Family STEM Summer Camps being organized by ECOSF and PSC in the Era of COVID-19

ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Pakistan Science Club (PSC) started a series of Online STEM Camps since April 2020 for the students and families during the COVID-19 pandemic which has confined children in their homes. Recently, three more Online Camps (3rd, 4th and 5th) have successfully been conducted. Online Family STEM Summer Camps provide a platform for hands-on/fun-learning scientific activities and engaging experience for not only students of different age groups but also parents also enjoy them with helping and guiding their children.

More than 170 families participated in the last 3 camps. An open workshop was also conducted in the wake of improved situation of COVID-19.

Batch 6 will be starting from 12 September 2020. Following projects were assigned/completed by the students during the camps.

Periscope

Periscope is a fun-filled activity to explore light, its nature and basic laws, it also helps to understand reflection, its characteristics and daily life use.

Walking Robot

An exciting hands-on activity to understand basic robotics and mechanics involved in it. The project helped participants to learn about mechanical movements in a machine and its significance.

Hydraulic Robotic Arm

The hydraulic arm is a popular project to learn about simple machines and mechanisms, the activity also explained hydraulic pressure, Pascal’s principle, its importance and various applications.

Wireless Electricity

While learning about the amazing ideas and concepts of Nicola Tesla, wireless electricity is must-do the project, exciting activity to understand the wireless transmission of electricity and future possibilities to make it useful.

Hand Water Pump

It is an outstanding activity to learn about one of the old machines that have been used by humans for centuries. It also explains the concept of piston and suction along others.

Hand Powered Generator

Generation of electricity from various resources has always been the topic of interest, this exciting project will help participants to learn about the electricity generation by turbines, its parts and process.

Solar Powered Fan

A worth learning fun-filled activity to explore renewable and solar energy, the participants understood how they could use sunlight to operate a fan and benefit themselves during electricity shutdown.

Solar Powered Car

Non-carbon fuel vehicles are the future of transport and this hands-on project explains about its basic phenomenon, principles and working which helps participants to understand its effectiveness and importance
