President ECOSF Participated in a webinar on “Science Diplomacy”

The Pakistan Nuclear Society in collaboration with Virtual University of Pakistan organized a webinar on "Science Diplomacy" in association with Pakistan Academy of Science (PAS) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Pakistan on June 25, 2021.

A large number of researchers, scholars, experts, linguists, academia, students, etc attended the event. From ECOSF, President Prof. Manzoor Hussain Soomro participated in the webinar

Science Diplomacy has been an emerging interconnection of science and diplomacy that can address humanity's greatest challenges and some of its most promising opportunities which are regional and global. The invited experts deliberated on how scientific teamwork between nations can solve human problems and improve international relationships. Considering the importance and potential of Science Diplomacy to advance Pakistan’s national interests and participate effectively in the global science and technology ecosystem, it is essential to create awareness of Science Diplomacy.

Rector, Virtual University of Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti gave an introduction to science diplomacy during the webinar. Distinguished National Professor, National Centre for Physics, Prof .Dr. Muhammad Aslam Baig gave his talk on bridging gaps through Science Diplomacy: Pakistan’s Perspective while Head of Science and Technology Sector, ICESCO, Morocco, Prof.  Dr.  Raheel Qamar shared his views on Science Diplomacy in the era of COVID-19. Director General (ACDIS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Kamran Akhtar Malik spoke on Pakistan’s Perspective on Science Diplomacy and President Pakistan Nuclear Society presented his viewpoint on Science Diplomacy the Global Scenario.
