NOMINAITONS FOR TWAS AWARDS TO SCIENTISTS/RESEARCHERS

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) has announced different awards in various fields for the scientists / researchers of Developing Countries.
The details are as under:
Nominations for the awards listed below can only be submitted electronically through the new on-line platform by clicking on the:
“New Nomination” button, to start a new nomination;
“Resume” button, i.e. to resume working on saved nominations.
For each award, these buttons are available from dedicated web pages, details of which are given below.

Fellows of TWAS are not eligible for the 'Fellow awards' listed below.
The deadline to submit complete nominations for the awards to women scientists has been extended to 20 May 2020.
* The 2020 TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Award
Eligible candidates: Women scientists from Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (STL) countries who have been living and working there for a minimum of two years immediately prior to their nomination.
Nominations for the 2020 award are invited in the fields of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering Sciences.

The recipient will receive USD 4,000.

* The 2020 TWAS-Abdool Karim Award
Eligible candidates: Women scientists who are nationals of a Low Income African country.
The awards recognizes scientific achievements in Biological Sciences.
The recipient will receive USD 5,000.

AWARDS TO YOUNG SCIENTISTS:
The deadline to submit complete nominations for the awards to young scientists is 15 May 2020.
* TWAS-CAS Young Scientists Award for Frontier Science
Eligible candidates are scientists not older than 45 years of age who are living and working in a developing country.
In 2020 the award will recognize a young scientist for achievements in the physical sciences, including physics and chemistry.
The recipient will receive USD10,000.

* TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry
Eligible candidates are young chemists (not older than 40), national of a Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (STL) country.
All fields of Chemistry are eligible.

The recipient will receive USD5,000.

TWAS - Mohammad A. Hamdan Award
The deadline to submit complete nominations is 15 June 2020.
Starting from this year, this award will be given every two years for outstanding mathematical work (pure, applied, probability, statistics) carried out by scientists working and living in Africa or Arab regions.

TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award
The deadline to submit complete nominations is 30 June 2020.
Nominations for the 2020 award are invited in any of the following thematic area:
Clean and renewable energy; Green chemistry; Sustainable agriculture and agrobiodiversity;
Plastic: degradation, pollution and microplastics; Water purification and sanitation;
Climate change: environmental effects, methane contribution, carbon capture; Transportation technologies: efficiency for smart cities;
Waste management; Biodiversity: the sixth mass extinction, ecosystem services, habitat recovery and restoration; Ecological economics and planetary health.
Eligible candidates for the 2020 award are scientists from Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
