ECOSF Initiates Dialogue between Scientists and USA Based Entrepreneurs for Commercialization of Research Results

ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) is striving to promote S&T based economic development through promotion and commercialization of S&T scientific research in the Member States. With reference to ECOSF objectives and joint research by Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro and Prof. Dr. Shahina Fayyaz and the industrial patents obtained there from, M/S Flozyme Corporation, Inc. Dallas - Texas, USA sent their representative, Dr. Farooq-e-Azam for exploitation of industrial patents on bio-pesticides. Dr. Azam visited the National Nematological Research Centre (NNRC), University of Karachi on 29 Dec 2014 and held a day long interaction with the patent holders and the team of researchers.

It was mutually agreed that the nematodes based bio-pesticides developed by the NNRC team as a great potential for control of agricultural as well as urban pests. For furtherance of the interaction, Chief Executive of M/S Flozyme will visit Pakistan during March 2015 and finalize the modalities of the cooperation.

Subsequently, a meeting with International Centre for Chemical Biological Sciences (ICCBS), HEJ Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Karachi represented by Dr. (Ms) Samar Yousuf was also held on 29 Dec 2014 at Karachi University wherein it was agreed that the International Conference on "Agro-biotechnology in ECO Region - Research and Applications" will tentatively be organized on 17-18 March 2015 by ECOSF and ICCBS in Karachi.

In this regard, a proposal along with budget will be prepared by Dr. Samar Yousuf within a week.
