President ECO Science Foundation visited FAO-UN Regional Office for Asia-Pacific in Bangkok

07 Oct 2016: While being in Bangkok during the first Meeting of the UN ESCAP Committee on ICT/STI, President ECO Science Foundation Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro took the opportunity to visit FAO- UN Regional Office for Asia-Pacific in Bangkok. The Chief of Asia Pacific Vegetable IPM Programme Jan-Willem Kettelar, Professor Piao Youngfan the Senior FAO Plant Protection Officer and Alma Linda Abubakar warmly welcomed Prof. Soomro being their former colleague in FAO IPM Programme for Cotton in Asia 2000-2004.  

While discussing the possibilities of collaboration in ECO Region with FAO, Prof. Youngfan shared with Dr. Soomro that only the Pakistan and Afghanistan from the ECO region comes under the umbrella of FAO Asia Pacific. Rest of the ECO region is covered by FAO near East region, Cairo-Egypt office and the FAO office for Eurasia based in Hungary Budapest. However Prof. Youngfan promised to share the details of FAO Budapest office which subsequently he did with Prof. Soomro.
