The Delegates of ECOSF and ECOEI paid a Visit to Isfahan Science and Technology Town

The delegations of ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) paid a visit to Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) on July 10, 2019. The delegations were comprised of President ECOSF Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro along his team and President ECOEI Prof. Akif KIRECCI of Turkey. President ISTT Dr. Jaffar Ghaisari warmly welcomed the delegates at ISTT and gave a short overview of the Town.

Later,a detailed presentation was given by Ms. Yazdianpour of ISTT about the Town. In her presentation, it was expressed that the Town is the one of the oldest, premier and biggest technology parks of Iran. The park provides a number of support services that are essential for promoting the ecosystem of startups including, tax rebates and technical and financial mentorships during various stages of pre-incubation, incubation and full scale business facilities. The town attracts youth as a major source of employment with over 519 companies housed in the ISTT, out of which 213 companies have grown into full scale business from incubation phase. ISTT is also category-II centre of UNESCO for Science Parks under the name of “Isfahan Regional Center for Technology Business Incubators & Science Parks Development under the auspices of UNESCO, Iran (IRIS)”. It is pertinent to mention that 44 Science Parks have been established in Iran.

Ongoing collaboration between ECOSF and ISTT/IRIS also came under discussion. It was informed that ISTT is celebrating 15 years of Shaikh Bahai Festival this year, thus, it will organize an international event and invited ECOSF to participate and invite delegates from ECO Countries. During the Festival, various projects/technologies will be presented by the participants. The projects will be subject to evaluation by a technical committee/judges, before their participation in the festival. President ECOSF has been selected as the member of technical committee/judge to evaluate the projects.

President ECOSF appreciated the efforts of ISTT for promotion of science, technology and innovation (STI) and offered the maximum possible support to ISTT/IRIS for the scientific activities in ECO region. At the end, Prof. Soomro presented a Five Year Report of ECOSF to President ISTT.

It is pertinent to mention that the delegates were in Isfahan due to 4th Meeting of ECOSF BoT, thus, got the chance to visit ISTT.
