ECOSF and Kohsar University Murree Signed MoU for long term collaboration

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Kohsar University Murree (KUM) on July 24, 2023. The MoU was signed by President ECOSF Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi and Vice Chancellor KUM Prof. Dr. Habib Ali Bokhari. The ECOSF staff, Manager (Admin) Mr. Ghulam Abbas Rahar and Manager (Accounts and Finance) Mr. Adnan Ali Abbasi attended the signatory ceremony. Through signing of the MoU, both the Institutes have entered into long term collaboration with special focus on STEM education through Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE). Research and Development in field of STEM and promotion of regional development in ECO region are also the objectives of the MoU.
Meanwhile, the 36th International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) was also held on 18-24 July 2023 at Murree, Pakistan. The event was organized by KUM, IYPT and Pakistan Young Innovative Minds' society (PYIMS). The IYPT is an annual physics competition for high school students. Teams from different countries participate in the tournament, presenting and defending their solutions to open-ended physics problems in Physics Fights. A number of teams from 16 countries participated in the Tournament. Teams from two ECO countries namely Iran and Pakistan were also participated. Every team performed remarkably but the winner of 36th IYPT was team Poland.
The competition focused on promoting critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork while fostering a spirit of collaboration and fair play. The jury evaluated the teams based on their scientific content, creativity, ability to defend their ideas, co creation and understanding of physics principles. Alongside the competition, social events and cultural exchange activities provide opportunities for participants to interact and build international friendships & promote Science Diplomacy (STEM education).
A closing ceremony was held on July 24, 2023, wherein, the trophies were presented to the winners and certificates were awarded to every participant. The ECOSF delegation headed by President ECOSF Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi attended the closing ceremony. Other participants of the closing ceremony were Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, Vice Chancellors, Academia, Students, etc. At the end, Vice Chancellor KUM Prof. Bokhari thanked all the teams and distinguished participants of closing ceremony for their attendance.
