National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic assures its full cooperation to ECO Science Foundation

President ECOSF called upon the President of National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic Prof. Abdygany ERKEBAEV in Bishkek on 7 October 2015. The meeting was another effort of President ECOSF Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro to encourage ECO member states to actively participate in and contribute to the programs and plans of the ECO Science Foundation.

He was accompanied by Ms. Ainura Israilova from the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan. Prof. Soomro briefed the hosts on the historical background of ECOSF, the establishment and aims & objectives as well as programmes, activities and plans for future. He shared with hosts, the international linkages developed by ECOSF, its international partners and collaborators viz., Academy of Sciences France through its La main a la pate Foundation, International Science, Technology and Innovations (ISTIC) Malaysia and Inter-Academy Partnership (IAP) through its Science Education Programme (SEP). President ECOSF emphasized on the need for a stronger "Cooperation and Collaboration" in S&T research institutions among the 10 ECO member countries including the Kyrgyz Republic. Dr. Soomro further said that ECO Science Foundation will play the role of an activator and provide a platform to develop linkages with the S&T institutions and organizations of ECO countries as well as international organizations partnering with ECOSF.

Dr. Soomro requested the Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences to be more active and join hands with ECOSF in implementation of STI research, and inquiry based science education (IBSE) program as recently launched in Astana-Kazakhstan. Its implementation in ECO member states will lead to innovation and a change in education system that is very much required.

President ECOSF then emphasised on the need for ratification of ECOSF Charter and its Additional Protocol by the Kyrgyz Republic, saying that he had already met the Deputy Minister of Education and Sciense and would also meet the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Country for the purpose. President of the Academy of Kyrgyz Republic Prof. Abdygany ERKEBAEV assured their full cooperation with ECOSF. However, he indicated that major role will be of the MES. President ECOSF presented the President of National Academy of Sciences a souvenir and meeting then ended with the vote of thanks from each side.
