President ECOSF meets the Officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran dealing with ECO Affairs

Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro the President ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) paid a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Islamic Republic of Iran on September 6, 2014 and met Mr. A.M. Alikhani, Director of the ECO Bureau and his colleagues. Dr. Soomro discussed with the ECO Bureau, MFA the process of establishment and progress so far of the Foundation and appreciated the efforts of Government of Iran through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. He particularly thanked the MFA for ensuring the budgetary contribution by Iran.

Prof. Soomro briefed the MFA officials on the progress of ECOSF and its international linkages including; observer membership of Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services (IPBES), UNESCO, Ev-K2-CNR Foundation Italy, La main a la pate Foundation France, International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation Under the Auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC), Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, COMSATS Islamabad and a number of institutions in Pakistan. He urged the Iranian side to contribute financial resources for the Foundation’s “S&F Fund” so that funding of collaborative research projects can be initiated in member countries.

The host appreciated the efforts of Dr. Soomro in establishment and inception of the ECO Science Foundation. Mr. Alikhani and his team also showed their happiness on the progress and linkages of the Foundation and promised continuous support.
