UNESCO and ECOSF commit to work together for promotion of science, technology and education

President ECOSF Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro & Director UNESCO Dr. Kozue K. Nagata in the meeting
ISLAMABAD: 20 Jan 2014: Dr. Kozue Kay Nagata, Director UNESCO Pakistan called upon the President ECOSF Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro at ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) office, today. The President ECOSF warmly welcomed Dr. Nagata at ECOSF and gave her a brief introduction of ECOSF and its aims and objectives.
Both the leaders discussed the areas of mutual Interest. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for scientific cooperation signed between Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and UNESCO in 1995 also came under discussion. The two agreed in principle for future cooperation in the field of scientific research, education and development under the aegis of ECO Science Foundation with the technical support of other UNESCO institutions and programmes including the International Science Technology and Innovation Centre (ISTIC), Kula Lumpur – Malaysia.
The two leaders also discussed the possibility of working on Transboundary Biosphere Research between Pakistan and the Bordering ECO Member States as well as any other cross border scientific, educational and cultural activity.
The 10 member state ECO Science Foundation recently established in Islamabad is a Specialized Agency of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) based in Tehran, Iran.
