Presidential Announcement: Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi joins as the 2nd President of the ECO Science Foundation

The ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) is very pleased to announce that Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi has joined the Foundation as its 2nd President on 11th August 2022. Prof. Tayebi has succeeded Founder President Prof. Manzoor H. Soomro, who stepped down from the position on 10th Augus 2022 after 9 years of transformative leadership.

Prof. Tayebi is one of the most accomplished economists of Islamic Republic of Iran, and academic leader with rich and diverse experience in international economics and its linkages to promote R&D, technology, and scientific spillovers. With more than 25 years of international development and a long-standing commitment to socio-economic development of the ECO region, Prof. Tayebi brings a unique set of knowledge, wealth of experience, and academic excellence to lead ECOSF into the future. He will step into the presidency with confidence and experience, and with the strength needed to lead ECOSF forward on its path of success and excellence.

Prior to joining ECOSF, Prof. Tayebi served as the Professor of International Economics and Econometrics, at the Department of Economics, University of Isfahan, Iran. He also served as the Director, Center of Excellence for International Economics (CEIE), University of Isfahan and the Editor-in-Chief of the International Economics Studies. He has been a member of Asia Pacific Economic Forum (AFEF) since 2002, being appointed as the APEF president in 2008 and 2009. He has also been a member of Association of Korea Economic Studies (AKES) since 2010. Prof. Tayebi has published his research extensively in international journals in the areas of international trade and economic integration, modeling financial crisis, micro-econometrics, SMEs, and technology spillovers.

We are confident that with his deep insights into economic development, President. Tayebi shall implement his thoughtful and visionary leadership and transform the Foundation to help achieve the intended goals of promoting Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the ECO region.
