4th Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ECO Educational Institute (ECOEI) held in hybrid mode

The 4th Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization Educational Institute (ECOEI) was held in hybrid mode on August 5, 2023 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Prof. Yusuf Tekin, Minister of National Education of Republic of Türkiye and attended by the Education Ministers/Vice Ministers/High Officials from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Türkiye (host) and Republic of Uzbekistan attended the meeting. The delegates of ECO Observers including Turkish Cypriot State also participated in the Meeting. The delegations of ECO Secretariat, ECO Cultural Institute as well as the ECO Educational Institute’s delegation headed by the President also attended the Meeting. ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) was represented by its President Prof. Komail Tayebi, Manager Programmes Engr. Khalil Raza, Manager (Admin) Ghulam Abbas Rahar, Manager (A&F) Adnan Ali Abbasi and I.T Specialist Bilal Mehmood. The chair welcomed all the Ministers/Vice Ministers and distinguished guests for participation and contribution in the meeting online and offline.

President of ECOEI made an introduction of the institute and briefed the BoT about the institute’s programmes and activities. Prof. Tayebi also made the statement and shared the programmes/achievements of ECOSF in the meeting. He elaborated that the Foundation has developed collaboration with international, regional and national organizations of the world such as UNESCO, CAST, BTBU, CYSC, IsDB, ISTIC, ISTC, ISTT, etc. for promotion of Science, Technology and Innovations leading to economic development. He further said that Foundation also promotes science education through inquiry-based learning in collaboration with La main a la pate Foundation of France. The ECOSF also promotes and supports youth of ECO region to participate in various science camps/activities to showcase their talent and establish the networking with international students. In addition, the ECOSF has been actively promoting the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) or e-Learning in the ECO Member Countries in partnership with E-learning association of Iran, some Iranian and Pakistani Universities and European Partners through UNITEL Project. So far, ECOSF has provided a couple of opportunities to diverse audience representing policy makers, academician, research scholars and students to generate a dialogue and discussions on ideas on the adoption of e-learning and future of TEL through International Conference and Workshop on Application of Artificial Intelligence for the ECO Member Countries.
The 4th Meeting of BoT was preceded by the High -Level Expert Group (HLEG) Meeting, held on August 4, 2023, chaired by Mrs. Tuba Korkmaz, Director General (EU and Foreign Relations), Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting discussed and finalized the agenda and other necessary documents for the BoT.
During the Meeting, the progress/extended biennial report for 2020-2023, reviewed the Status of Ratification of ECOEI Charter, endorsed Audit Reports for 2020-2022, endorsed of ECOEI Scale of Assessments 2023-2024, discussed and reviewed revision of ECOEI Personnel Structure, endorsed rectification of increments in staff salaries, endorsed ECOEI Budget Estimates for 2023-2026, ECOEI Work Programme 2023-2025, reviewed the status of nomination of scholars as Members of ECOEI Academic Council and Focal Points, endorsed nomination of Prof. M. Akif Kireçci to the post of the President of ECOEI for a term of three years, reviewed appointment of Mr. Abdolkarim Sadeghdoost (an Iranian national) as Executive Director, endorsed appointment of Dr. Gonca Biltekin to the post of Educational Expert, and endorsed the draft report of the 4th BoT Meeting.
At the end, the BoT expressed gratitude to Honorable Minister of National Education of Türkiye Prof. Yusuf Tekin for hosting and chairing the 4th Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the ECO Educational Institute. Chairing of the meeting of HLEG by Mrs. Burcu was also commended.
The BoT also acknowledged the efforts of the ECOEI President and his team for their work in preparation of comprehensive documents and their assistance to the host country for successful holding of the 4th Meeting of ECO Educational Institute Board of Trustees.
