Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) delegation visits ECOSF

A delegation of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) visited the Headquarters of Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECSOF) in Islamabad- Pakistan on 5 September 2019 and called upon the President ECOSF Prof. Manzoor H. Soomro. The delegation was headed by Dr. Di Yuna, Executive Director, BTBU Pakistan Study Center along with Ms. Zhu Zhenrong, Deputy Director of BTBU Pakistan Study Center and Mr. Jia Wei, First Secretary in S&T, Embassy of China in Islamabad.

President ECOSF warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed them about the Foundation and its objectives, programmes and collaboration with regional and international organizations. He shared with the BTBU delegation that ECOSF has also been working with Chinese institutes/organizations under Belt and Road Initiative of China especially the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) and that a MoU has been signed with Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of CAST for promotion of science education, capacity building of human resource and other scientific activities in the countries along the belt and road which includes ECO countries. An initiative has been taken along with SUGON Rui Education and Academy of Engineering and Technology of Developing World (AETDEW) for Digital B&R Double Hundred Universities Cooperation Program (DHUCP), he said. Under this program, the Universities will be upgraded/equipped with latest digital technologies to coup with needs of future, he added.

Dr. Di Yuna expressed her pleasure in visiting the ECOSF and appreciated its important initiatives being carried out, especially the collaboration with China under Belt and Road Initiative. Later, she introduced BTBU and said that it is a public comprehensive university in Beijing, China founded based on the amalgamation of Beijing Light Industry School (Beijing Institute of Light Industry), Beijing Business School and the Administration School for Ministry of Machinery Industry.

She added that “Pakistan Study Center on Science & Technology and Economy” was established at BTBU in 2017 to develop an international think tank dedicated to research under Belt and Road Initiative. Through this center, BTBU is closely working with Pakistani institutes and experts for scientific collaboration. She also shared that the delegation has visited a number of institutes and universities of Pakistan to develop stronger collaboration; and the response is very encouraging.

President ECOSF offered the maximum possible cooperation and support to BTBU for developing collaboration with counterpart institutes of Pakistan and beyond in the ECO region.

At the end, there was exchange of souvenirs of both the organizations.
