A guide for Pakistani users
The EU’s Horizon 2020 program is aimed at promoting research and innovation in European Union and Beyond. The program will run from 2014 to 2020 with a budget of nearly EUR 80 billion. Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever. It will lead to more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. Horizon 2020 has been designed to deliver results that make a difference to people's lives. Built on three pillars – Excellent Science, Industrial Leadership and Societal Challenges, further described below – it will fund all types of activities, from frontier science to close-to-market innovation.
Horizon 2020 will bolster excellence in research and science, by attracting the best brains
and helping scientists collaborate and share ideas across Europe and beyond. It will help
talented people and innovative firms boost competitiveness, creating jobs along the way,
and contributing to a higher standard of living – benefiting everyone. Organisations and researchers from any country of the world – including Pakistan – can participate in Horizon 2020 projects. Whereas, the Pakistan Science Foundation is the Focal Organization for EU Research and Innovation Programme Horizon-2020 in Pakistan by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) on behalf of Government of Pakistan.
