Dear Friend of IPBES,

The success and credibility of IPBES depends, very directly, on the strength, independence and quality of our scientific and technical processes. The Plenary has entrusted oversight of these vital elements of the IPBES work programme to the 25 men and women comprising our Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP).

It is not always easy to explain the central role that the MEP plays in our work, so I am very pleased to share with you today a new resource – a series of five short video messages from the two MEP Co-Chairs, Marie Stenseke and Luthando Dziba, about the importance of the MEP, its work to date, key challenges for the future and their shared vision for the MEP. I encourage you to view these messages and to use them as resources to help deepen the understanding of and appreciation for the efforts of the MEP.
